Uwe Neuhaus (born November 26, 1959 in Hattingen ) is a German soccer coach and former soccer player .

Career

Uwe Neuhaus had learned the profession of electrical system installer and spent four years as a soldier with the Army Aviation in Rheine-Bentlage before he devoted himself entirely to his career as a footballer.

player

Neuhaus played soccer at TuS Hattingen in his hometown . He came to Rot-Weiss Essen in the 2nd Bundesliga in 1984 via the stations VfL Winz-Baak and SpVgg Erkenschwick . In 1988 he moved to the second division relegated BVL 08 Remscheid . One year later, after Remscheid had missed promotion to the North Rhine-Westphalian football league , he joined SG Wattenscheid 09 , with whom he was promoted to the Bundesliga in the first year - the greatest success in the club's history for the Wattenscheid team. In four first division years with SG Wattenscheid 09 Neuhaus was one of the regular players. In the first season, the club reached eleventh place. After that, the team fought relegation year after year until it failed to keep the class in 1994. The following year, Neuhaus ended his playing career after a total of 102 first division and 83 second division games, in which he scored twelve goals in the Bundesliga and five in the second division.

Trainer

Uwe Neuhaus as coach of 1. FC Union Berlin (2013)

After his active time at Wattenscheid, Neuhaus took over the coaching position. In 1996 he was relegated with the team from the 2nd division and was released. After a year at VfB Hüls , he signed a contract as Michael Skibbe's assistant coach at Borussia Dortmund in 1998 . Neuhaus remained Borussia's assistant coach until 2004 and after Skibbe's leave of absence, he worked under the head coaches Bernd Krauss , Udo Lattek and Matthias Sammer . In 2002 Neuhaus won the German championship as assistant coach and reached the UEFA Cup final . With Sammers release before the 2004/05 season and the hiring of Bert van Marwijk and his assistant Dick Voorn , Neuhaus's commitment as assistant coach of the first team also ended.

Neuhaus now looked after Dortmund's second team until he succeeded Jürgen Gelsdorf as head coach at his old club Rot-Weiss Essen on April 23, 2005 . With the Essen team in May 2006 he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga. When he and his team only picked up one point between the seventh and eleventh match day of the 2006/07 season, he was released from his duties after the 0-1 defeat against TuS Koblenz .

At the beginning of the 2007/08 season Neuhaus signed with the then Berlin regional league club 1. FC Union Berlin , with whom he qualified for the new third professional league . Neuhaus led his team to the first championship title of the new league and the associated promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. His contract in Berlin ran until the end of the 2015/16 season and was valid for the first two leagues. On April 26, 2014, the club announced the separation from Neuhaus at the end of the 2013/14 season. At that time, Neuhaus was the longest-serving coach in the club's history and the longest-serving coach in German professional football.

In April 2015 Dynamo Dresden signed him as the new head coach from July 1, 2015. At the end of the 2015/16 season he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with Dynamo. On August 22, 2018 he was given leave of absence in the first round of the DFB Cup against the regional league club SV Rödinghausen . Neuhaus was the coach of the Dresden club in a total of 116 competitive games, 50 of which were won. At the time of his dismissal, he was one of the two Dynamo Dresden coaches alongside Christoph Franke after the reunification with a term of office of more than two years. The coaching position at Dynamo Dresden was taken over by Cristian Fiél on an interim basis until Maik Walpurgis was introduced as a coach on September 11, 2018 .

The contract with Neuhaus, which ran until June 30, 2019, was terminated on December 10, 2018. On this day Neuhaus signed a contract as a trainer with Arminia Bielefeld as the successor to Jeff Saibene, who had just been released . Arminia Bielefeld ended the 2018/19 season with Neuhaus in seventh place in the table and played the second best second half of the season after promoted SC Paderborn . In the 2019/20 season , Neuhaus achieved promotion with the Bielefeld team as champions of the 2nd Bundesliga.
