Marcel Hartel (born January 19, 1996 in Cologne ) is a German football player . The midfielder and former U21 national player is under contract with Bundesliga club Arminia Bielefeld .

Career

Hartel began his career at SC West Cologne and in 2002 moved to the youth department of 1. FC Cologne . In the club's U17 he was on the pitch 25 times and scored twelve goals. Hartel was active 46 times for the U19 and scored 21 times. With this team he was runner-up in the A-Junioren-Bundesliga Season West in the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons . He was the most successful goalscorer of his team in 2014/15 with 15 goals.

After Hartel had already made seven appearances in the 2014/15 season , he moved up to the second team that plays in the Regionalliga West for the 2015/16 season . On November 14th, 2015 Hartel scored his first league goal in a 2-1 home win against TuS Erndtebrück .

On February 20, 2016 (22nd matchday), Hartel was in the first team's squad for the first time. He was substituted on that match day in the 0-1 defeat against Borussia Mönchengladbach in the 62nd minute for Filip Mladenović and thus made his debut in the Bundesliga . On April 25, 2016 Hartel signed his first professional contract with 1. FC Köln with a term until June 30, 2019. In preparation for the 2016/17 season , Hartel suffered a metatarsal fracture and was therefore out for some time. On September 21, 2016 he was on the field for the second team of Cologne for the first time. In the Bundesliga, he came to two short appearances during the season. On March 22, 2017, Hartel is said to have spat on an opposing player in the game 1. FC Köln II against Fortuna Düsseldorf II. He got the red card for this and was suspended for four games.

For the 2017/18 season Hartel moved to the second division 1. FC Union Berlin , with Cologne securing a buyback right. On January 31, 2019, Hartel scored a 1-0 lead in a league game against his former club 1. FC Köln after less than a minute of playing time with an overhead kick and was named goalscorer of the month by Sportschau and at the end of the year as goalscorer of the year . With Union he rose to the Bundesliga at the end of the season after successful relegation games against VfB Stuttgart . On July 27, 2019, the Berlin club announced Hartel's move to second division Arminia Bielefeld . He won the championship with East Westphalia in the 2019/20 season and was promoted to the Bundesliga .

National team

Hartel played against Hungary (1: 2) and Kosovo (1: 0) for the first time for the German U21 national team in September 2017 . On November 9, 2017, he scored three goals in a 7-0 win in Azerbaijan .
