Overhead kicks
The overhead kick is a technique used in football to play the ball or kick it into the opponent's goal .
The overhead pull is a special variant of the back pull and the scissor strike . The player stands with his back to his target, lets himself fall back on his back with a slight jump and hits the ball volley with his instep . The ball flies over the player's head and ideally lands in the goal or is removed by the defender in front of the goal.
The side pull is the simpler version of the drop pull , in which the player shoots the ball in the air - but not over his own head - and lands on the side.
Several football players are credited with the title of "inventor of the fallback". Partly the Italian Carlo Parola is considered to be the inventor, but the Brazilian Leônidas da Silva is said to have scored a goal with an overhead kick in 1938 in a 6: 5 against Poland in Strasbourg and the Italian soccer player Silvio Piola in 1939 against Germany . Another thesis comes from Chile . Ramón Unzaga is said to have accomplished and invented it in Chile in 1914 , but the bicycle kick of 1927 by Chilean David Arellano has become internationally known, which is why it is called la chilena in most of the Spanish-speaking world . In Peru, on the other hand, the overhead kicker is known as the chalaca . The name comes from a modification of the name for the inhabitants of Callaos . They claim that this technique was invented in this South American country at the end of the 19th century.
The former German national player Klaus Fischer is considered the "king of fall-backs" . His fall-back goal from the 1976/77 season in Germany was voted goal of the century by ARD viewers .
An overhead kick by Swede Zlatan Ibrahimović to make it 4-2 in the international match against England in November 2012 was chosen as goal of the year 2013. The special feature was that he used the technique to hit the hurried goalkeeper from about 30 meters with an arc lamp .
