The TuS Hattingen (officially: Turn- und Sportverein Hattingen 1863 eV ) is a sports club from Hattingen in the Ennepe-Ruhr district . The soccer team played for six years in the highest Westphalian amateur league.

history

The association was founded in 1945. After the end of the Second World War , the British occupying power only allowed one association in Hattingen. A total of nine clubs then merged to form today's TuS Hattingen. The year 1863 comes from the Ruhr-Turner-Bund , the oldest parent club of today's TuS Hattingen. In addition to football, the club also offers badminton , handball , athletics , gymnastics and volleyball .

Soccer

TuS Hattingen initially only played at the district level and could only get a taste of the district class atmosphere in the 1947/48 and 1950/51 seasons. It was not until 1958 that the Hattingers were able to establish themselves in the district class. After a runner-up in 1962 behind the second team of SSV Hagen , the TuS succeeded in advancing to the state league a year later . After a fifth place in the promotion season, the TuS had to return to the district league in 1965. Three years later he returned to the national league. After a strong second half of the season, the Hattinger team ended the season tied with Arminia Marten . Despite a 0-1 half-time deficit, the TuS was able to win the decider for the championship in the neutral Bochum with 2-1 and the club rose to the then third-class Association of Westphalia .

Under coach Dieter Buschmann, the team reached their sporting zenith in the 1971/72 season with fifth place, before a sporty decline began in the mid-1970s. After three relegations in a row, the TuS came in 1977 in the district league. It was not until 1980 that he was promoted to the district league again. The club belonged to this division until 1985, from 1991 to 1994, from 2000 to 2014 and since 2016. In the meantime, the Hattinger went down to the district league B in the 1997/98 season.
