Uneven bars
A uneven bar is a bar with bars of different heights. The gymnastic apparatus has according to the code of points a height of 166 cm and 246 cm for the lower to the higher of the two spars, above ground measured 20 cm including mats. On request, the device can be increased by another 5 cm. The bars are round with a diameter of 3.9 cm. The distance between these is between 100 cm and 180 cm.
Uneven bars is an apparatus discipline in women's gymnastics, it is also part of the apparatus gymnastics all-around competition. The women's demonstrations on the uneven bars are similar to the men's gymnastics .
To protect against skin blisters and for a better grip, gymnasts often wear gymnastics straps on their hands .
history
The uneven bars were first mentioned in writing in 1830 by the Spaniard Francisco Amorós in his textbook Manuel d'éducation physique, gymnastique et morale . However, it took over 100 years until the unevenly high arrangement of the parallel bars was introduced as a competitive discipline in 1934 at the World Gymnastics Championships for women in Budapest. At the Olympic Games in 1936, women did the compulsory exercises on the men's bars, and in the freestyle they were allowed to choose between the two types of bars. Even at the 1950 World Championships, the uneven bars had not yet fully established itself: the gymnasts had the choice between uneven bars and rings . In 1952, the uneven bars were advertised for the first time as a fully-fledged competition device at the Olympic Summer Games in Helsinki .
The distance between the spars has been changed several times. While it was between 43 and 45 cm at the beginning, it has now grown to 100 to 180 cm. The shape of the spars has also changed: if they were oval in the past, they are now round with a diameter of 3.9 cm.
rating
The exercise is assessed from the point of jumping off the springboard or the mat. The eight most difficult elements shown, including the finish, are included in the evaluation. The exercise should be compiled from the following assessment categories:
-
Turns and turns
- Giant rims forwards / backwards
- Swings and free rims
- Stoop turns forwards / backwards
- Stald swings forwards / backwards
-
Flight parts
- from the lower to the upper bar (and vice versa)
- Somersaults
- Pike elements
- Jumps
- Counter elements over the spar
A maximum of 2.5 points are awarded for the compositional requirements. The connection value can be assigned for direct connections and is included in the D grade. The connection of D- (flight from the upper to the lower spar) and C-elements or D- and D-elements is rated with 0.1 points, for the connection of D- and E-elements and of D- (flight from gymnasts receive 0.2 points.
