The international valuation regulations in artistic gymnastics are officially referred to as the Code de Pointage ( English Code of Points ) . The Code de Pointage is published separately by the international gymnastics federation FIG for female and male apparatus gymnastics. Every four years these valuation rules are adapted to the current conditions in the world elite.

At the beginning of 2007, the new valuation regulations for apparatus gymnastics for men and women came into force, which resulted in the abolition of the top grade of 10. From now on, the overall grade consists of a D grade and an E grade, with the D grade assessing the difficulty and the E grade assessing the execution. The maximum grade of 10 is retained by subtracting from 10 points in the E-grade, e.g. B. for a fall from the device 1.0 points. The D grade is made up of the 9 most difficult elements of the exercise and the last element (the finish). For this purpose, the various elements are divided into different levels of difficulty from A to I. An A element brings a bonus of 0.1 points, an I element a bonus of 0.9 points. In addition, there can be 0.1 bonus points for connecting DC, B, A elements or 0.2 bonus points for DD or higher.

At the moment, top gymnasts achieve scores between 15.0 and 16.9 points in the overall score, which is created by adding the two individual scores.

In addition to general behavior for gymnasts, coaches and referees and the basics for the exercise evaluation, the evaluation rules also contain an overview of the individual elements and their difficulty.
