At the beginning of 2011, Komowa had to take a break due to an injury and was operated on in Germany on the ankle. In August she competed again for the first time and achieved silver in the all-around as well as gold on the uneven bars and on the balance beam at the Russian Cup in Yekaterinburg. In other World Cup competitions in 2011 she again achieved gold on the uneven bars (Gent, Belgium) and gold in the all-around, on the uneven bars and on the balance beam (Penza, Russia). With the Russian women's team, she also won silver behind the USA in the team competition.

She was unable to take part in the 2013 World Cup because of an acute meningitis infection and other health problems and was unable to participate in practically the entire year. It wasn't until 2014 that she celebrated her return to active gymnastics at the Russian Championships in April. Since she did not compete on the ground, she did not qualify in the all-around competition, but was significantly involved in the team gold of the Central Russian team through two highly rated presentations.
