Dörte Thümmler (born October 29, 1971 in East Berlin , after marrying Dörte Thümmler-Pawlak ) is a former German gymnast . Your home club was the SC Dynamo Berlin .

Dörte Thümmler was a three-time winner of the Spartakiad in 1985 . In 1987 she took third place on the uneven bars behind the Romanian Daniela Silivaș and the Bulgarian Diana Dudewa at the European Championships . At the 1987 World Championships in Rotterdam, she won bronze with the team of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) and took sixth place in the all-around event. On the uneven bars she won the title together with Daniela Silivaș and was the fifth world champion on the uneven bars from the GDR after Karin Janz , Annelore Zinke , Maxi Gnauck and Gabriele Fähnrich .

At the Olympic Games in 1988 , Dörte Thümmler took third place with the GDR team and reached seventh place in the individual ranking of the all-around competition. She qualified for two apparatus finals: In the floor exercise she took eighth place, on the uneven bars she missed an individual medal in fourth. In the same year she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.

At GDR championships she won a total of three championship titles: in 1987 she won on the uneven bars, in 1988 she was successful on the floor and on the balance beam .
