Annelore Zinke (born December 10, 1958 in Lauchhammer , after marrying Annelore Haupt ) is a former German gymnast who became world champion on uneven bars in 1974. She started for SC Dynamo Berlin .

Career

Annelore Zinke began her successful career in Gorden . She trained with Jürgen Heritz , who had already made Karin Janz world and Olympic champion on uneven bars. She took second place on the uneven bars at the GDR championship in 1973, beaten only by Angelika Hellmann . In 1974 she placed second on the uneven bars, tied with Hellmann behind Richarda Schmeisser , and in the all- around event she finished second behind Angelika Hellmann. At the 1974 World Cup in Varna , the GDR squad with Irene Abel , Heike Gerisch , Angelika Hellmann, Bärbel Röhrich , Richarda Schmeißer and Annelore Zinke won silver behind the Soviet team. In the all-around competition, Zinke took sixth place. On her paragon, the uneven bars, she won the title ahead of Olga Korbut and Lyudmila Turishcheva , Hellmann and Schmeisser took fourth and fifth place. This made her the youngest female world champion in the history of the 18 title fights held on all continents. In the same year she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.

In 1975 Annelore Zinke took part in the European Championships in Skien together with Richarda Schmeisser . In the all-around competition, Zinke took third place behind Nadia Comăneci and Nelli Kim . In addition, Zinke qualified for all device finals. She finished sixth on the floor, and fifth on the balance beam and jump. On the uneven bars Annelore Zinke won the silver medal behind Nadia Comăneci.

1976 Annelore Zinke missed the Olympic participation after several injuries and ended her career. She attended the institute for teacher training in Großenhain for four years , worked as a lower school teacher in Elsterwerda and was SED party secretary at the Rudi-Arndt-Oberschule. The mother of two daughters lives in Plessa .
