Gabriele "Gabi" Fähnrich (born April 8, 1968 in Hoyerswerda ) is a former German gymnast . Your home club was the SC Dynamo Berlin .

Gabi Fähnrich won bronze at three consecutive gymnastics world championships with the team of the German Democratic Republic (GDR): 1983 in Budapest , 1985 in Montréal and 1987 in Rotterdam . In 1985 in Montréal, she also achieved her greatest success. After she had already reached fourth place in the all-around competition, she won the finals on the uneven bars and won the world title ahead of her teammate Dagmar Kersten .

Gabi Fähnrich was often injured in her career and could no longer match her performance from 1985. After she came in 33rd place in the all-around competition in Rotterdam in 1987, she finished 25th at the 1988 Olympic Games and did not reach a device final either. In the team classification, she won the bronze medal behind the ranks from the Soviet Union and Romania together with Dagmar Kersten, Dörte Thümmler , Ulrike Klotz , Bettina Schieferdecker and Martina Jentsch . For this achievement she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze. In 1986 she received the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold.

In the GDR championships, she won only one title when she won the balance beam in 1985. Gabriele Fähnrich is a trained beautician.

As part of state doping in the GDR, the underage ensign was also given doping agents. She is a recognized doping victim.
