Individual all-around

The 16-year-old European champion Dmitri Bilosertschew won the world title in the all-around competition. This made him the youngest world champion and set a new record with 119,200 points. Bilosertschew was the first gymnast in the world to receive the highest mark of "10" for his exercise on the pommel horse. A little later, the Chinese Tong Fei succeeded in doing the same on bars. Defending champion Yuri Koroljow failed in duty on the horizontal bar and missed the all-around finals.
