Bettina Schieferdecker (born April 30, 1968 in Markranstädt ) is a former German gymnast . Your home club was the SC Leipzig .

Bettina Schieferdecker won the uneven bars title at the 1982 European Junior Championship in Ankara. In 1983 she took fourth place in the all-around at the GDR championship. So she belonged to the GDR squad at the 1983 World Championships in Budapest and won the bronze medal in the team competition. In 1984 the East German gymnasts were due to the Olympic boycott not participate in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in the GDR. Instead, friendship competitions were held for the athletes from the Eastern Bloc. At the gymnastics competitions in Olomouc, the East German squad took second place behind the Soviet squad, Bettina Schieferdecker took tenth place in the all-around event and received a bronze medal for her floor exercise.

In the coming years, Schieferdecker could not qualify for the GDR team, but at the Olympic Games in 1988 she was back in the squad. After Martina Jentsch's injury , all of her results were included in the team standings, with a twelfth place in the horse jump compared to a 60th place on the uneven bars. The GDR squad finally won bronze, with Gabriele Fähnrich , another gymnast in the team who had been part of the GDR squad at the Friendship Games four years earlier. In the same year she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.
