Simona Renciu

Simona Renciu (born December 21, 1967 ) is a former Romanian artistic gymnast .

She achieved her greatest success in 1983. At the World Championships in Budapest Renciu won the silver medal in the team standings behind the Soviet Union with the Romanian gymnastics team with Lavinia Agache , Ecaterina Szabó , Laura Cutina , Mihaela Stănuleț and Mirela Barbălată . Renciu was also part of the Romanian squad for the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, but she was replaced by Cristina Grigoraș before the Games .

Simona Rencius' twin sister Camelia Renciu was also a member of the Romanian national team. She was a substitute gymnast for the Olympic Games in 1984. The two emigrated to Luxembourg in 1992, where they work as trainers. In 2010 they took on citizenship of Luxembourg alongside Romanian citizenship.
