- 217 : Instigated by the Prefect of the Praetorians Macrinus , the bodyguard Iulius Martialis murdered the Roman Emperor Caracalla on a campaign against the Parthians .

- 1945 : An evacuation transport from the Salzgitter-Drütte concentration camp to Bergen-Belsen is bombed by the Allies. The surviving prisoners flee to the nearby forest area of Neustädter Holz . They are then persecuted and murdered indiscriminately. The final phase crime is known as the "Celle Hare Hunt" .
- 1945 : Operation Radetzky for the surrender of the city of Vienna to the Soviet Union in World War II without a fight is uncovered. The resistance fighters Alfred Huth , Rudolf Raschke and Karl Biedermann are arrested and publicly hanged on the same day.
