Elisabeth von Brandenburg (born April 8, 1474 in Ansbach , † April 25, 1507 in Römhild ) was a princess of Brandenburg and became Countess of Henneberg by marriage .

Life

Elisabeth was a daughter of the Brandenburg Elector Albrecht Achilles (1414–1486) from his second marriage to Anna (1436–1512), daughter of Elector Friedrich II of Saxony . Her father reported to Count Haugk zu Medenberg about her birth: "We also let you know that our wife was happily delivered on Good Friday through God's help, and has brought us a daughter with a big mouth like that of Wirtemberg ."

She married Count Hermann VIII von Henneberg (1470-1535) from the Aschach-Römhild line in Aschaffenburg on October 23, 1491 , after she had been betrothed to him at the age of eight.

Elisabeth is buried in the collegiate church of Römhild . Her bronze, art-historically valuable grave slab, on which she is depicted together with her husband, was cast by the Nuremberg sculptor Peter Vischer and his sons.
