Max Wenzel (dialect poet)

Max Wenzel (born April 8, 1879 in Ehrenfriedersdorf , † September 4, 1946 in Chemnitz ) was a German teacher and dialect poet from the Ore Mountains .

Life

After attending the teachers' seminar in Annaberg , Max Wenzel became an assistant teacher in Wiesa . He did his military service with Infantry Regiment No. 134 in Leipzig . He then worked as a teacher in Geyersdorf and Grumbach until he found a job in Chemnitz, where he lived at Hugenbergstrasse 55 (today Helenenstrasse) until his death. In Chemnitz, Max Wenzel taught at the André School together with Otto Thörner , who was also a teacher, poet and local poet.

Along with Anton Günther, Wenzel is one of the most productive dialect poets in the Saxon Ore Mountains. He wrote 11 volumes of the Erzgebirge books alone . Even after Wenzel's death, many of his works, some of them newly compiled, were repeatedly reissued.
