Justin Sullivan (born April 8, 1956 in Jordans / Buckinghamshire , England ) is a British musician.

He is the lead singer and guitarist of the rock band New Model Army . In his adopted home Bradford he met Stuart Morrow and Robert Heaton in the late 1970s , with whom he formed a band. At that time under the name Hustler Street Band , the band had a few gigs - and originally it was supposed to stay that way. Justin Sullivan, who performed under the pseudonym Slade the Leveller at the beginning of his career , emphasized in later interviews that the band was actually only planned for two to three appearances. However, since the response from the audience was very positive, the three decided to continue.

Already in the early days they took a stance on political issues and so it was not surprising that they soon changed the band name to New Model Army , based on Oliver Cromwell , whom many see as a fighter for freedom and justice in 17th century England .

In addition to New Model Army , Justin Sullivan has other projects, such as Red Sky Coven , a mixture of folk music and poetry . He also released his first solo album in 2003 and went on an extensive semi-acoustic tour with two of his bandmates, Dean White and Michael Dean, in 2002 and 2003. The three interpreted songs by New Model Army and their own pieces by Justin Sullivan in a previously unseen way.

Justin Sullivan lives in Bradford , Yorkshire with his partner Joolz Denby . He is politically committed to positions critical of globalization and critical of capitalism and sees himself spiritually as a follower of paganism .
