Valentin Chorell (born April 8, 1912 in Turku , Finland , † November 18, 1983 in Helsinki ) was a Finnish-Swedish writer and screenwriter .

Live and act

Chorell's parents were the waiter Karl Chorell and his wife Elisabeth Sundqvist. He studied psychology from 1931 to 1934 and then worked as a lecturer. In 1940 he married Ethel Bremer.

In 1941 he published his first volume of poetry, Vinet och lägeln . He had his breakthrough as a writer only in 1949 with the drama Fabian öppnar portana , which was also filmed in 1952. Other dramas followed, and he also wrote novels , radio plays and screenplays. Its main characters are often outsiders who suffer from alcoholism or mental disorders such as schizophrenia .
