Lizzi Waldmüller , actually Felizitas Karoline Waldmüller (born May 25, 1904 in Knittelfeld , Styria , † April 8, 1945 in Vienna ) was an Austrian film actress and singer .

Life

Lizzi Waldmüller romped through Austria on her father's touring stage before taking acting and singing lessons. In the 1920s she made her theater debut in Innsbruck and was already inspiring painters like Rudolf Heinisch to artistically portray her work. She then moved to Germany via Graz and Vienna.

She became famous with the Paul Lincke song: I am the woman people are talking about .

At the beginning of the 1930s she played supporting roles alongside stars like Heinz Rühmann , Hans Albers and her husband Max Hansen . Hansen also did political cabaret; After a scandal staged by the National Socialists , he decided on September 8, 1933, to leave Germany and go to Vienna. Waldmüller came with him; The marriage ended in divorce in 1938.

She had her big breakthrough in the Willi Forst film Bel Ami , in the role of Rachel. In it she sang the song You are lucky with women, Bel Ami! . The film premiered on February 21, 1939. She then starred in a number of operetta films ; the best known of these is probably Mrs. Luna (1941), with whom she is still often identified today.

On April 8, 1945, one month before the end of the Second World War , Lizzi Waldmüller died in a bomb attack on Vienna in her apartment on Franziskanerplatz . Her honorary grave is located in the Hadersdorf-Weidlingau cemetery in Vienna (Section 2, Group G, Number 14).
