Casanova marries is a comedy film by director Viktor de Kowa from 1940. The literary film adaptation is based on the play A great man in private by the German screenwriter Harald Bratt , who also worked on the screenplay for the film adaptation. Karl Schönböck plays the theater actor Rudi Peusch alias Ralph Gregor in the main role .

action

The actor Ralph Gregor plays the womanizer Rudi Peusch on stage so convincingly that his audience is of the unanimous opinion that he just needs to be surrounded by women in his private life. In fact, he has been with his colleague Steffie for a long time. After an argument with her, he takes a break and drives to the country, where he meets the attractive Gertrud. He doesn't think twice and proposes to her.

Shortly afterwards, however, he is confronted by Steffie, who has found him together with Johanna, whereupon Gertrud leaves him again. Back at the theater, Ralph and Steffie meet in the cloakroom, where they both realize that they are actually meant for each other.

Production notes

The film premiered on February 29, 1940 in Trier ; It was shown in the Berlin Tauentzienpalast on May 15, 1940. He passed the film censorship on January 31, 1940. The shooting took place at Tegernsee . Conrad Flockner directed the production . Karl Weber was responsible for the film construction together with Carl Haacker , Hans Rütten took care of the sound. The lyrics are from Richard Busch's pen. Rudolf Brix photographed the actors on the set , for whose costumes Ilse Fehling was responsible.
