Karl Schönböck , actually Karl Ludwig Josef Maria Schönböck (born February 4, 1909 in Vienna , † March 24, 2001 in Munich ), was an Austrian actor .

Life

The son of DDSG captain Emanuel Schönböck and his wife Luise geb. After graduating from high school , Bogner began studying philology in Vienna. After two semesters he switched to the Academy for Music and Performing Arts there and also took singing lessons from Jekelius in Berlin. In 1930 he made his theatrical debut in Meissen as Ashley in his father very much . This was followed by numerous engagements and guest performances on stages in Hanover, Salzburg, Königsberg, Bonn, Berlin and Munich, where he first appeared in the cabaret Die Schaubude after the Second World War and later was one of the co-founders of Kleine Freiheit . While at the beginning of his career he was still playing in the dramatic field, his focus later shifted more to the upscale boulevard theater , where he usually took on the role of bon vivant or grand seigneur. He has also participated in numerous cabaret programs, including the legendary Munich cabarets Die Schaubude and Die Kleine Freiheit ; in both he appeared at times with his then wife, the actress Herta Saal .

In 1936 he also made his film debut in Das Mädchen Irene , directed by Reinhold Schünzel , which was followed by numerous other film and later television roles. Here, too, Schönböck mainly mimed the type of charming, often somewhat vain and therefore not to be taken very seriously gentleman or aristocrat. His parodic, caricaturing style of representation in Helmut Dietl's satire Schtonk! about the affair surrounding the Hitler diaries invented by Konrad Kujau , and in Halali or Der Schuß ins Brötchen , where Schönböck embodied an aged squire. His last major role was that of Friedrich von Thun 's father in several films in the ZDF crime series The Crimes of Professor Capellari .

Schönböck was married to the actress Herta Saal in his first marriage and from 1965 in his second marriage to the actress Corinna Genest . He had a daughter from his first marriage, Christine (* 1942). The actor, active to the last, died of a stroke at the age of 92. The grave of Karl Schönböck and Herta Saal is in the Munich forest cemetery (106-W-13, the grave is in the old part of the cemetery).
