Germany - your starlets, that is the lurid story of ambitious film starlets in the Federal Republic of Germany's cinemas, who use all means to climb the success and career ladder, and of a yellow press journal that picks up on every “sensatiönchen” to a fat one Produce headline.

The protagonists include an established actress named Ellen Dorn, who has long since seen her greatest successes behind her, her colleague Helga Werbach, whose career is on the rise, and, third, Renate Bard, another young mime who has benefited from Ellen's decline are threatened. While Ellen panics because she has lost a hoped-for role, the sensational reporter Klamm joins in and causes Helga's accidental death through his persistence, who has seriously hoped for this role. Reviews

“The Viennese film critic, stage director and young cineast Edwin Zbonek ( ' Love hangs on the gallows ') expresses his affinity with the Paris New Wave by reading the New Wave organ 'Cahiers du Cinéma' to a good-willed German screen director lets himself appear briefly and integrates an unreal cabaret scene seamlessly into the plot. Otherwise he is walking on the well-trodden paths. His film has little more in common with Will Tremper's 'Stern' report ('Petronius') than its title. A few well-known piquants from star and starlet fates have been woven into a noisy chronicle of the dire practices of some cinema bosses. New insights do not arise - unless that in Berlin all actors speak Viennese. "

"A work that practices what others chalk up."

Or did his "cinematic provocation" consist precisely in this double affirmation? Germany is worth seeing today ?? DEINE STERNCHEN at least because of the short reencounter with acting »fixed stars« like Sieghardt Rupp, Leopold Rudolf, Albert Rueprecht, Louis Soldan, Franz Stoss. "

"Despite some efforts a much too ostensibly uncritical flick."

Paimann's film lists summed up: “After a sketchy start, a stylistically inconsistent description of the situation without a solution; with dynamism, also in the unconventionally handled technology. Proven and young talent in standardized roles ... "
