action

The student Lilly is a happy Viennese girl. When one day she wanted to visit her uncle Ferencz Körös von Köröshazy, a general off duty, at his Hungarian vineyard, she unfortunately had to do so without her fiancé Dr. Joachim Dittersberg do because he suddenly fell ill. On the way, Lilly meets the landowner Aladar Féhérvary, who suddenly falls in love with her despite the considerable age difference. Aladar is everything that the somewhat rigid, dry research assistant Joachim is not: Charming, “old school” and urbane. Little does Lilly suspect that the landowner and her uncle are in fierce competition with each other. Both are fighting over who can present the best Tokay wine of this vintage.

Since Lilly missed the train to see Uncle Ferencz, Lilly accepts an invitation to a wine festival, willy-nilly. At the side of Aladar Féhérvary she has a lot of fun in a lively atmosphere, but makes sure that the heavy country wine does not go to her head and that she does not become unfaithful to her Joachim as a result. The next day her fiancé Dittersberg, who has traveled later, arrives and both continue on the train to see Uncle Ferencz. All sorts of mix-ups and misunderstandings arise, but in the end Lilly can tell her old uncle Dr. Introduce Joachim Dittersberg as your future husband and celebrate a lavish wedding party.

Reviews

Der Spiegel wrote: “Vienna is raping itself: Paul Hörbiger has to change his Heurigen wine bliss to grumpy Magyarism , Hannerl Matz dances csardas like paprika . Conclusion: moderate Tokay - Szeged - Viennese - operettas - goulash. "

In the Lexicon of International Films it says: “Only the music and dances of the Vienna State Opera Ballet are appealing; the actors are lost in such stupid script dialogues. "
