Johanna "Hannerl" Matz (born October 5, 1932 in Vienna ) is an Austrian chamber actress .

Life

At the age of four she received ballet lessons from Toni Birkmeyer. From 1940 to 1948 she attended the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. In 1950 she completed the Max Reinhardt Seminar . At the final performance she was discovered by Berthold Viertel and engaged for the Burgtheater . She stayed with the house as a member until 1993.

In 1951 she was discovered for the film by Ernst Marischka and made her film debut in the same year. In 1953 she was brought to Hollywood by the director Otto Preminger , where she starred in the German version of The Moon is Blue ( The Jungfrau on the Roof ) . Since the late 1960s, the popular actress worked primarily for Austrian television.

Johanna Matz embodied the "Viennese girl" type incomparably.

She was married to the actor Karl Hackenberg . Today Johanna Matz lives secluded in Vienna and Unterach am Attersee .
