The whole world is sky blue (published in Germany under the title Red lips should one kiss ) is an Austrian comedy film from 1964 with the main actors Johanna Matz and Peter Weck , which was directed by Franz Antel . The world premiere took place on January 17, 1964.

action

Evelyn, the daughter of the American travel agency entrepreneur John P. Hoover and great-grandniece of the famous Viennese dancer Fanny Elßler , is a professional dancer herself. However, the critics and the audience are bribed by their rich father without their knowledge - some with free tickets, others with money. When Evelyn overheard a conversation about her supposedly mediocre talent, she discovers the manipulation by her father. She then fled to Vienna with a tour group organized by her father's company. She hopes that she will manage to make a career as a dancer there - just like her famous relative once did.

The headquarters in Vienna informed the Hoover Group's representative office about the escape of the boss's daughter. Mr Burian, the local manager, does not notice in time that Evelyn is hiding behind the guest with the false name Peggy Meyer. Evelyn meets the Viennese police officer Peter, who falls in love with her and gives her a job as a waitress in Mr. Muckenhuber's café. He earns an extra income by arranging artists, including Peter, who works part-time as a singer.

Evelyn's father is worried about the disappearance of his daughter. Since Burian cannot find her, he goes to Vienna himself. Evelyn has since fallen in love with Peter, who shows her the most beautiful sides of Vienna. However, he has learned that a con man named Peggy Meyer is wanted by Interpol and fears that his Peggy is the wanted one.

background

As usual, director Franz Antel let the actors play during the filming of his "FC Antel", whereby Peter Vogel tore his ligament. Vogel finished the film despite the plaster cast.

The film was released for distribution in the Federal Republic of Germany under the title Red lips should one kiss . The German title of the film is that of a very successful song by Cliff Richard (released in Germany in September 1963), a German version of Lucky Lips . The song, written by the duo Jerry Leiber / Mike Stoller , was a hit in many countries, even in local language versions. There are other German versions by Peter Kraus , Gus Backus and Günter Geißler, among others . The Austrian original title The whole world is sky blue goes back to a song by Robert Stolz .

The film was a great success with the public and was shown as an Austrian contribution to the film festival in Karlsbad.
