Music, music - there wiggles the penne is a German comedy film that was filmed in the summer of 1970 under the direction of Franz Antel in the Austrian town of Gmunden am Traunsee and in Munich . The Lisa Film GmbH production was one of several films with which the producer Karl Spiehs wanted to build on the success of the film series Die Lümmel von der Erste Bank . The film opened in German cinemas on October 15, 1970.

Siggi, the son of the education minister, has to catch up on his Abitur and, at his father's request, is supposed to prepare for it during the summer holidays in a boarding school. Because Siggi and his friends are in the middle of working on a self-composed musical, friend Inge has the idea of moving to the boarding school of her good-natured uncle Emmanuel in the romantic Seeburg Castle. While the actual students are on vacation, Siggi and his friends pass the time there, following the motto “learning with music”, until the strict Dr. Wimmer arrives. The education minister's personal advisor is to monitor Siggi's school progress on behalf of his boss. He and his no less weird colleague, the geography teacher Fräulein Dr. Schickedanz and the sports teacher, Studienrat Stich, made life difficult for the supposed students and forbade them to work on the musical.
After Dr. Whenever the lovable uncle Emmanuel was forced to hand over the management of the boarding school to him, Siggi and his “classmates” decided to actively oppose the teaching staff. While this is brought to the brink of despair by one student prank after the other, Siggi catches up on his learning material with the attractive village teacher Rosl Kainz. Their brother Christian is a well-known pop star under the stage name Chris Roberts, whom the youngsters absolutely want to persuade to participate in their musical.
Shortly before the end of the vacation, the Minister of Education meets his son and his friends playing music on a paddle steamer. The supposed students personally convince the initially indignant minister with their knowledge and prove that they are by no means uneducated and depraved offspring. Siggi's father is visibly enthusiastic about the concept of “learning with music” when Dr. Wimmer, Miss Dr. Schickedanz and Studienrat Stich arrive to change his mind again. Suddenly there is an explosion of explosive devices that two children had hidden on the steamer. The students and teachers are catapulted into the lake.

The enormous success of the film series Die Lümmel von der Erste Bank , launched in April 1968 under the leadership of producer Franz Seitz , also encouraged other film producers to bring similar films onto the market. The fastest was the Austrian Karl Spiehs , who with his Lisa Film GmbH produced the film Always Trouble with the Timpani , which was released in the cinemas in autumn 1968 and received the golden screen . Filming
The shooting for music, music - because the Penne wobbles took place from July 20 to August 21, 1970 in Gmunden and Altmünster, mainly on the Traunsee . The main location for the film was Seeburg Castle , where the boarding school is located. The location chosen for this was the Württemberg Castle in Altmünster (more recently also known as Traunsee Castle ), which to this day actually houses a boarding school and had already served as a location in the similar film Always Trouble with the Timpani . The well-known Seeschloss Ort in Gmunden and Gmunden's old town also served as external backdrops. The finale was filmed on board the historic paddle steamer Gisela . Further exterior shots were taken in Munich . There was no need to work in a film studio. The film architect Nino Borghi created the necessary backdrops .

The FSK approved the film after an examination on October 6th, nine days before the cinema release, for people aged six and over. The advertising of the Constantin Film Distribution promised the "latest penne and timpanist adventures" in a "musical happening full of hits, stars and great pranks" . The film was perceived by most of the critics as a typical series product, but this did not affect the commercial success at the box office. In July 2016, the film was shown in the Tele 5 series The Worst Films of All Time .
