action

The cheeky Petra, who especially her teacher Dr. Nolte, known as Hannibal annoyed, really wants to get the license. Since girls are not admitted to the flight school, she quickly disguises herself as a boy and falls in love with her flight instructor Garry Brandt.

At the same time, insurance agent Harry Weber, twin brother of Petras school director Oskar Weber, appears to also get the ticket. Since he looks confusingly similar to the director, considerable irritation arises. In particular, his affair with a dancer almost divided his twin brother's marriage.

Finally the two twins meet, so that the waves smooth out again. Garry has long since figured out Petra's secret, who no longer needs to dress up after receiving her flight ticket.

History of origin

prehistory

The enormous success of the film series Die Lümmel von der Erste Bank , which started in April 1968, under the leadership of producer Franz Seitz, encouraged other film producers to bring similar films onto the market. The fastest was the Austrian Karl Spiehs , who with his Lisa Film GmbH produced the film Immer Ärger mit den Paukern , which was released in the cinemas in autumn 1968 and was awarded the Golden Screen for more than three million visitors . Encouraged by this success, Spiehs planned the production of the “Pauker” films in 1970 We make music - there wiggles the penne (later music, music - there wiggles the penne ) for Constantin Filmverleih and Das knocks the strongest pauker (later ours Pauker go in the air ) for the Gloria film distribution.

With Wencke Myhre and Chris Roberts , two popular hit stars were available for the lead roles. In addition, one saw Georg Thomalla , Mascha Gonska , Ilja Richter , Peter Weck , Siegfried Schürenberg , Rainer Basedow and Friedrich Schoenfelder , among others . The screenplay was written by the director Harald Vock , under his pseudonym Sven Freiheit, and August Rieger . Ilse Kubaschewski , the owner of the Gloria rental, contributed to the production costs with her production company Divina Film.

production

The shooting of Our Pauker go into the air took place in June and July 1970 at the Wörthersee and in Feldkirchen in Carinthia in Austria . The aerobatics were carried out by the pilot Herbert Thonhauser of the Feldkirchen flight school.

reception

The FSK released the film on September 22, 1970 from the age of six. Most of the critics perceived the film as a typical series product, which, however, had little effect on the box office success.

In the series Ein Schloß am Wörthersee , an episode with Georg Thomalla and Rainer Basedow was shot with an allusion to their roles in this film.

Reviews

“A student as a flight student, a school principal with a twin brother, a confused teacher - and the average penning film with a few hits and pop stars is ready. Moderately entertaining. "

- Protestant film observer, No. 475/1970

"Undemanding slapstick comedy that strings together poor jokes and German hits that were popular at the time."

"Our timpanists go up in the air 'is great fun for the whole family with stars, lots of contemporary flavor and music from the 60s."

- Dirk Jasper Film Lexicon
