content

Pepe Nietnagel meets Gotthold Emanuel Taft, director Gottlieb Taft's twin brother who emigrated to Africa years ago. Gotthold would like to return the favor for the criticism of his person by his stuffy brother and therefore sends him a letter in which he informs him of his death and in which he holds out the prospect of a high inheritance for the school. The messenger of this message is notary Munk, the father of one of Pepe's classmates. In order for Director Taft to take over the inheritance, some clauses in the will must be fulfilled: He has to take in an African foster child who turns out to be a chimpanzee, and also commit a crime, which the good man finds very difficult. Another condition is that no student at Mommsen-Gymnasium is allowed to sit.

When trying to fulfill the clauses, all kinds of difficulties and entanglements arise, in which of course Pepe and his friends are also involved. Dr. Taft tries his hand at being a thief, a bootlegger and a drunk driver, but is disappointed to find that the police are happy to turn a blind eye to the director of the local high school. With Pepe's help, he ends up in prison as a supposed duelist , while his twin brother pretends to be the "director" and surprises students and staff with completely new traits. After their release from prison, the brothers meet and the real Dr. Taft not only forgives his brother, but also helps him take an involuntary swim in the swimming pool he sponsors.

History of origin

prehistory

For 1970, Constantin Filmverleih announced two films of the "Pauker" genre. In addition to the fifth part of the “Lümmel” series produced by Franz Seitz , Pauker are there to annoy you (later title: We hit the Pauker in the pan ), this was the Lisa film production We make music - because it wobbles Penne (later music, music - then the penne wobbles ). In the same year , Ilse Kubaschewski's Gloria Filmverleih also planned the never-realized Peter Alexander film Our Pauker is the Greatest and the comedy That knocks the strongest Pauker , which was ultimately released in the cinemas as Our Pauker go to the air . Also in 1970 the remake Die Feuerzangenbowle , produced by Horst Wendlandt and distributed by Inter-Filmverleih, was released.

For the fifth part of the “Lümmel” series, producer Franz Seitz was able to work with director Harald Reinl for the second time . The main actors in the series were Hansi Kraus , Theo Lingen , Uschi Glas , Rudolf Schündler , Ruth Stephan , Balduin Baas and Hans Terofal . Fritz Wepper and Karl Schönböck , among others, could be engaged for guest roles .

production

The shooting took place from March 19 to May 4, 1970. Outdoor shots were taken in Baden-Baden , Lindau in Lake Constance , Offenburg and at the Maximiliansgymnasium in Munich , which was shown for the third time as the Mommsen-Gymnasium. Some interior shots were also shot in Munich. The chimpanzee Sammy junior used in the film came from the Sarrasani circus . In order to film the kissing scene on the boat in Lake Constance from the air, a helicopter was ordered, the cameraman was buckled up and the door was hung so that he could lean far out.

Film music

For the fourth time, Rolf Alexander Wilhelm was responsible for part of the series as a film composer. The music was recorded in the Scala-Studio in Munich (sound engineer: E. Kramper), one track ( Soul 'Ong ) is published on the CD Hard Hitting - Wewerka Soul Jazz Library (Sonorama C-34 / L-34). The title song Wir hau'n die Pauker in the pan was produced by Heinz Gietz . The composer was Friedel Berlipp , the text was written by his wife, Countess Trine von Stolzenau. It was released as a single on the Cornet label.

reception

The FSK released the film on June 29, 1970 from the age of six. Although it did not reach the number of visitors of its predecessor, it again proved to be a great business success for the producer. After numerous unofficial "Pauker" films, the real "Lümmel" series was continued in 1971 with the school dropping out tomorrow .

Reviews

“Another film in which ossified or parched teachers have to let their students terrorize them. Students who are not so bad, if only the adults found the right tone and stepped a little from their pedestal of authority. It's a shame that all the scenes are only 'scratched'. A consolation: Theo Lingen in a double role and a - monkey! "

- Hamburger Abendblatt , November 28, 1970

“Fifth part of the 'Lümmel' series; stupid slapstick as usual. "

"These follies almost hurt."

"Nothing will succeed despite double ling."

“Silly ideas and scenic slapstick are at the level of the earlier films. Undemanding entertainment. "
