action

Foreword in the film: This is the story of two young people who met at a time when brother was fighting brother.

While the Spanish Civil War is raging, Teresa, a Franco sympathizer, is out in the mountains with old Pedro when they watch a fighter plane crash. At the crash site they find the German soldier Michael. He is largely immobile and bleeds profusely.

Teresa wants to get water and bandages for the injured, but is discovered by soldiers of the Republicans and accompanied by a patrol sent back to the village. There she requests Mayor Torquito for the infirmary to protect her. Pepita, the mayor's daughter, is still very young, and allows Comisario Malek, who is playing a wrong game, to strongly influence her in his own way and to make her insecure anew. She doesn't even notice that he keeps making her divulge things that she should have kept to herself.

Meanwhile, the good-natured Pedro dragged Michael into a cave and looked after him as best he could. Teresa waits for an opportune time and uses it to return to Pedro and the injured man with bandages, water and food. As it turns out, Michael's leg is broken, making it impossible to escape through the mountainous landscape. Pedro wants to flee from the enemy through the mountains and asks Teresa to come with him. However, this refuses, because she does not want to leave Michael to his fate under any circumstances.

It is getting harder and harder for Teresa to get to Michael, as the soldiers hang around all over the mountains. Many days have now passed without her being able to get to Michael. In her need she turns to Mayor Torquito, who helps her again this time. Michael confesses his love to her and she can no longer hide how deep her feelings for him are. However, Michael still doesn't know that Teresa has already been promised to someone else.

In the meantime, a lot of bad things continue to happen in the village and then Mayor Torquito, Teresa's “guardian angel”, is shot. Comisario Malek, who has since found out that Teresa is hiding a German in the mountains, leaves her no choice. She has to accompany him to the hiding place that same night. There it comes to a dramatic duel between Malek and Michael. Michael emerges victorious and Teresa and Michael spend their last night together. At dawn, after opening her heart to the sleeping Michael, Teresa sneaks away sadly - back to her fiancé. You won't see each other again.
