content

The young Dortmund architect Stefan Hellwig is given the chance of a lifetime: He is to plan the expansion of a hard stone factory in Tyrol and, for example, design a housing estate for the new workers. He owes this not least to the daughter of the hard stone works director Kersten, Monique, who kept an eye on him. Stefan should inspect the area on site and deliver the first planning drawings within two weeks.

Stefan, sub-tenant of the steel industry's dispatcher Christian Meier, who wants to go on vacation to Africa with his wife Marie and daughter Babsi - Kilimanjaro is the destination of the all-planning nerve bundle, is taken by Meier in the car because Tyrol is on the way. However, the time plan prepared by Christian does not work out and everyone does not arrive in Tyrol until the evening. Since Babsi is whining with fatigue and Marie does not want to continue to Innsbruck in the dark , the family stays in the old Tyrolean farmhouse, where Stefan has rented a room for several days anyway.

During the night Babsi gets a fever and Stefan fetches a doctor from the village - Karin, whom he brings to the farm, is actually a veterinarian, but she can treat Babsi, who is barely missing apart from a little stress. However, she prescribed three days of bed rest. Christian, who slept through everything at night, is not at all right, he wants to go to Africa. But then he rebooks the vacation with the travel agency. Meanwhile, city child Babsi familiarizes himself with the new environment. The village boy Peterl shows her the young goats and chamois, small piglets and hedgehogs. She bets him that it will be impossible for chicks to hatch from the eggs the next day. However, she threatens to miss the result, as Christian wants to leave immediately with the apparently healthy Babsi and Marie. With a trick and the help of doctor Dr. However, Madesperger manages to simulate a high fever and measles , which means two weeks of forcibly extended holidays in Tyrol for Christian. He soon gets behind the trick, drives to Madesperger drunk and causes a car accident at a gas station. Since the police are nearby, his driver's license is promptly withdrawn, the car repairs take time and Christian can now finally give up his plans for Africa. As he falls asleep drunk on an alpine pasture and enjoys nature when he wakes up, he announces on his return to the farm that the holidays are now officially being enjoyed in Tyrol. The family is delighted and in the end they decide to come back next year.

Karin is less enthusiastic about Stefan. Both have started a cautious affair, but she soon discovers that he is one of the people who want to drive the farmers off their homesteads and tear down the old houses for modern settlements. In fact, Consul Kersten's middleman, Dr. Türk in the village to make offers for the farmers on their homesteads. Stefan's attitude that he is only the executor of plans for which he ultimately has no responsibility changes when Peterl's favorite goat falls into the hard stone pit and is seriously injured. He also learns from a farmer that there is just as good building land in the valley as there is up on the mountain pastures with the farmers, but that this is not lucrative: In the alluvial land of the valleys, deep foundations would have to be poured in order to build houses, while this in the Bergen because of the stony ground is omitted. So in the end it is all about saving money, not a necessity. Stefan returns the job to Consul Kersten, but Karin now regards him as a coward who shies away from problems. In the end, Dr. Madesperger describes the situation: He traveled to Consul Kersten in Dortmund, made the building site in the valley palatable to him and made clear the importance of the old farmsteads, and Kersten agrees to move the building plans to the valley. Stefan keeps his job and Karin and he can finally become a couple.
