occupation

Grün ist die Heide is a German homeland film with elements of the hit film by Harald Reinl from 1972. It is a remake of the unfinished film Heidesommer by Eugen York from 1945 and is not a remake of the films Grün ist die Heide from 1932 and Grün ist Die Heide from 1951, however, also contains poems, here processed as songs, by Hermann Löns . The leading roles are cast with Roy Black , Monika Lundi , Peter Millowitsch and Jutta Speidel . The movie poster advertised with the words: "A happy film about people of today, full of music, romance and wonderful nature shots."

action

Norbert, who inherited a house in the Lüneburg Heath, would like to spend a secluded holiday there with his friends Möps and Bernie, without alcohol, nicotine and women. The supposed house turns out to be an empty stable, but the three of them don't let that bother them.

The resolutions with regard to women cannot of course be realized in the long term. Norbert meets Ursula, who works in a sanatorium nearby, and falls in love with her. Since her superior Dr. Velten has one eye on her, she simply moves in with the three friends. The village girl Hanna, who wants to hook up with Norbert, is finally satisfied with Möps. Bernie celebrates reunion with Anita, who has followed him to the heath, and Norbert is happy with Ursula after a final irritation.

production

Filming, background

The film was shot from September 22nd to October 20th in Lüneburg Heath and Berlin. The world premiere took place on December 20, 1972 in Celle .

The plot of the film takes a back seat to the nature shots and singing. As in many films of the time, slapstick and romance stand side by side. Director Harald Reinl can be seen in a cameo as a cleaner in the sanatorium.

The film did not achieve the success of the film of the same name by Hans Deppe from 1951, but initiated a short renaissance of Heimatfilm.

Grün ist die Heide was released on DVD on March 24, 2017 , published by Alive as part of the “Jewels of Film History” series.

criticism

“The film producers know that Roy Black fans, especially the female ones, must not be frightened: The singing Sonny Boy has to remain reachable - at least mentally; a dream figure, but handy, also clean (this one also mentally). "( Karena Niehoff , Der Tagesspiegel 1972)

“The strip 'Grün ist die Heide' is a homeland film, with a lot of area and plenty of green on the screen, but the ravages of time have gnawed at the genre noble forestry and dramatic fate. Of course not the subject of heartfelt love. "(Spandauer Volksblatt 1972)

"Unrealistic Heimatfilm entertainment with slapstick, hits and a lot of fake feelings." ( Lexikon des Internationale Films 1997)

“(...) Löns, apart from a few songs, pretty uninvolved; banal boring. "(Rating: 1 star = weak) ( Adolf Heinzlmeier and Berndt Schulz in Lexicon" Films on TV ", 1990)

"(...) an embarrassing and extremely superfluous remake." (Das große TV Spielfilm Filmlexikon, 2006)
