content

In 1903, at Happy Camp , Alaska, adventurers and stranded people search for gold and luck. The Indian girl Akaena wants to go south; she promises riches in return, which she has only thought up. However, the devious Mike Williams takes her statements at face value and threatens her to reveal the hiding place. He is shot from ambush; his body is found on the sleigh of Bill Robinson, a trapper and fur hunter. The justice fanatic is now accused of having committed the murder, which is why Frona, the dead man's sister, obliges the bounty hunter Harper to hunt him down. In the solitude of the North American forests, Robinson now has to deal not only with the dangers of nature, but also with his persecutor. However, he manages to win the man's friendship. Together they convict the real culprit.

Production notes

Karl Spiehs brought the previous Tarzan actor Ron Ely into German films for the first time. Originally, Rolf Olsen provided as a director, but who could not agree on the composition of a female movie character with Spiehs. Olsen wanted Anita Ekberg for the main role, which Spiehs refused for reasons of cost. The actors Raimund Harmstorf, Gila von Weitershausen and Ernst Hilbich were taken over from Olsen's previous film Bloody Friday . The shooting took place near St. Jakob in Defereggen and in the vicinity of the Styrian spa town of Bad Mitterndorf . Despite the well-known names and the intensive nature shots, the film was not a great success at the box office.

criticism

“Exciting adventure entertainment in the environment of a remote camp at the foot of the snow and ice desert of Alaska. Fighting spectacles and melodrama are in balance. "

Cinema saw a film "whose appearance is reminiscent of the Karl May epics". BR saw a "dramatic adventure film in front of a great mountain backdrop".
