Dan van Husen (born April 30, 1945 in Gummersbach ; † May 2020 in Ilminster , England ) was a German actor .

Life

From 1968 to 1974 Van Husen took part in many entertainment films, mainly shot in Italy , including numerous spaghetti westerns . In 1977 he got an engagement at the Schauspielhaus Bochum and played in Courage under the direction of Jérôme Savary and went on various theater tours. In the same year, he played a leader of the Zaplata gypsy clan in the Ruhr area strip Call for Dance (1977) with Marius Müller-Westernhagen . In addition to numerous other films produced in Hollywood and Italy, he also appeared in Casanova (1976) by Federico Fellini , in Salon Kitty by Tinto Brass and Nosferatu - Phantom of the Night (1979) by Werner Herzog . He also became increasingly active on German television and took on roles in series episodes of Der Alte , Derrick , Der Clown , Alarm für Cobra 11 , HeliCops and SOKO Wismar in 2007.

Due to his physiognomy mostly cast as a villain and villain , he stepped u. a. in the television disaster film Tsunami (2005) and in the 80s cult film Richy Guitar (1985) by Michael Laux . After the turn of the millennium he was seen in Band of Brothers (2001), a Steven Spielberg television series, as well as in Perfect Strangers (2001) by Stephen Poliakoff , in Duell - Enemy at the Gates (2001) by Jean-Jacques Annaud and in The Tribunal (2002) by Gregory Hoblit 2002. In June and July 2010 van Husen played the leading role in the American-produced western Scarlet Worm , which was filmed in the Temecula area and directed by Michael Fredianelli . 2011 was followed by recordings in Bulgaria for a remake by Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn . In September 2011 van Husen received a prize for his life's work in the western genre at the “Western Film Festival”, which took place for the first time in Almería / Spain from 8th to 11th November. September 2011. In October of that year the film Gellert was completed. He worked as an actor until shortly before his death in May 2020.

Dan van Husen lived in Somerset , England and died at the age of 75 from complications from COVID-19 .
