Long Live Your Death (original title: Viva la muerte ... tua ) is a 1971 incurred spaghetti westerns directed by Duccio Tessari . The film, which featured prominently with Franco Nero and Eli Wallach , was first shown in German cinemas on April 12, 1972.
action
The unscrupulous journalist Mary O'Donnell leads Sheriff Randall to let the hero of the Mexican revolution "El Salvador" escape, so that she leads him to the revolutionary Tomás, who awaits him for the start of a new uprising. The sheriff, who knows that Mary does not know Salvador, releases the bandit Lozoya instead of the dead man who, with the help of the self-proclaimed Russian prince Dimitri Orlowski, escapes. He also has his own interests: He knows that only Lozoya knows the exact location of a buried gold treasure.
Lozoya and Orlowski are far more interested in the treasure than in the political goals of the revolutionaries. When they actually find the gold, they are arrested by the troops of the Mexican army around General Huerta, who sentenced them to death. Mary can free both; now they want to lead the revolutionaries against the regular troops in order to regain their gold. But they let themselves be convinced by the political ideas and after the victory over Herta they distribute the booty among the poor peons. Mary publishes their plans to support the Guatemalan revolution.
criticism
The lexicon of the international film about the German version: “Unbearably dubbed spaghetti westerns, lavishly staged, but without any noteworthy ideas. Approaches to parody are suffocating in lead and corpses. ”On the other hand, Christian Keßler has the dubbing for one of Rainer Brandt's better works and judges:“ Every scene has its charms and pleases through skilful and always imaginative staging. ”
Remarks
The song "Don't Turn the Other Cheek" - also the international title of the western - will be interpreted by leading actress Lynn Redgrave.
Alternative titles are Zwei fantastische Companeros and Zwei Galgenvögel give Tinder .
The script is based on Lewis B. Patten's The Killer from Yuma .
Approvals
The film received a release from the age of 18 at the time of its theatrical release. The video version was indexed from December 18, 1982 to October 31, 2006. In March 2007, the film was approved for ages twelve and over.
