Vigor Bovolenta (born May 30, 1974 in Porto Viro , † March 24, 2012 in Macerata ) was an Italian volleyball player .

Career

With the Italian national team , Vigor Bovolenta won the silver medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta . He won four medals at European championships ( 1995 gold , 1997 bronze , 1999 gold and 2001 silver ). In 1995 he became world cup winner in Japan . In addition, Vigor Bovolenta won the world league four times ( 1995 , 1997 , 1999 and 2000 ). At the end of his international career, he finished fifth at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing .

The middle blocker Vigor Bovolenta played from 1990 to 2011 in the top Italian division "Serie A1" and played 553 games here. He was Italian champion in 1991 with Ravenna and in 2002 with Modena and also won the national cup in 1991. With Ravenna he won the European Cup (1992, 1993, 1994), the CEV Cup (1997) and the Club World Championship (1991) three times in a row . In addition, he won the Top Teams Cup 2006 with Copra Piacenza and the Challenge Cup 2010 with Perugia Volley .

Vigor Bovolenta has played in the fourth Italian division since 2011. In the encounter between his team Forlì and Lube Macerata on March 24, 2012, he suffered a heart attack on the pitch . At the Macerata hospital, only his death could be determined. Bovolenta left behind his wife and four children. His fifth son was born on October 30, 2012.
