Dietrich Frauboes
Wolf-Dietrich Hans Frauboes (born December 23, 1918 in Leipzig , † 1979 in Berlin) was a German actor and voice actor .
Life
After attending the Free School Community in the Thuringian Forest, Frauboes first attended the Reichsgewerbeschule and trained as a commercial artist. On the side he took private acting lessons and from 1948 to 1952 singing lessons with Anna Langenbeck. He made his stage debut as August Schulze in the Schwank The Blue Heinrich by Otto Schwartz and Georg Lengbach in Stuttgart . Other stages were Schwäbisch Gmünd and Berlin ( Hebbel Theater ).
Since 1949 he also took on roles in film and television productions. Frauboes played a. a. in Tom Toelle's television play The Reichstag Fire Trial , in the war film Battle of Britain (with Michael Caine ), in the Hans Fallada film adaptation Everyone dies for himself , in the Johannes Mario Simmel film adaptation Lieb Vaterland Mayst be quiet as well as in television series such as Tatort , Derrick and The old man . His last film role was in Volker Schlöndorff's Oscar- winning Tin Drum (based on Günter Grass ).
Since 1951 Frauboes also worked extensively in the dubbing and lent his voice a. a. Georges Guétary ( An American in Paris ), Arthur Kennedy ( The Blonde Tiger ), Martin Landau ( The Invisible Third ), Steve McQueen ( When the Blood Boils ), Carl Reiner ( With Madame Coco ), Jimmy Thompson ( You should be my lucky star ), Eli Wallach ( How do you steal a million? ) And the British comedian Terry-Thomas (including the daring men in their flying boxes , Monte Carlo rally and stranger bedfellows ).
1947–1979 he was radio play speaker in 42 radio plays.
The hobby painter Frauboes was also active as a journalist and cabaret artist and gave readings and slide shows. He was also a popular singer.
