action

On his first day in London, the American manager Carter Harrison met the painter Toni Vincente through an accident. For both of them it's love at first sight. Before long they get married. But shortly after the wedding night the tatters fly and Carter leaves his young wife.

After spending seven years abroad for the Inter-Allied Petroleum company, Harrison comes back to London to finally divorce Toni. When the two meet again at the divorce judge, the old passion flares up again. The planned divorce is forgotten. But violent disputes quickly arise again.

Harrison has since learned that he is about to be promoted. The company boss JL Stevens attaches great importance to an intact family life for his employees. Unfortunately, Harrison cannot come up with that after the recent separation from Toni. In order not to endanger his promotion, he leaves no stone unturned to reach a reconciliation with Toni. When Harrison learns of Toni's plan to act in the style of Lady Godiva as the figurehead of a protest rally that is to be held for the artist Petracini, he is horrified because his boss is going to visit the American embassy on that day. In order to dissuade Toni from her plan, Carter pretends to have to travel urgently to the unrest-shaken country of Gadonga on behalf of the US government. However, his dizziness is exposed by Toni's friend Harry. Now the spirited woman is unstoppable and rides almost naked through London. The response is tremendous. In the ensuing tumult, Harrison pulls Toni from his horse, which his boss and his wife also notice. The police intervene. Harrison and others are arrested and tried.

Carter Harrison's defense speech impressed Toni so much that the couple reunited.

Reviews

"Moderate laughing entertainment that builds on tried and tested gags and well-known stars, but otherwise has neither solid nor clean plot to offer."

- Protestant film observer, review No. 131/1965

“Entertaining Hollywood comedy, embellished with postcard views of Italy; Another " bed whisper " with Rock Hudson, whose partner this time is Gina Lollobrigida. "

- Lexicon of international films , rororo-Taschenbuch No. 6322 (1988), p. 1126
