Gene Milford

Arthur Eugene "Gene" Milford (born January 19, 1902 in Lamar , Colorado , † December 23, 1991 in Santa Monica , California ) was an American film editor who received two Oscar for best editing .

biography

Milford began his career as an editor in the Hollywood film industry for the film Two Can Play in 1926 and was responsible for editing more than 100 film and television productions by 1979 .

At the Academy Awards in 1935 he was one of the nominees for the first-ever Oscar for the best cut, namely for One Night of Love (The Shining Target, 1934). At the Academy Awards in 1938 , he and Gene Havlick received the Oscar in this category for In the Shackles of Shangri-La (1937). He received his second Oscar for the best cut in 1955 for Die Faust im Nacken (1954).

Other well-known films on which he worked as an editor were Before Blondes Is Warned (1931), A Face in the Crowd (1957), Fever in the Blood (1961), Taras Bulba (1962), Stranger Bettgesellen (1965), A Man is hunted (1966), Wait Until It's Dark (1967), Countdown: Start to the Moon (1967) or Two Dirty Scoundrels (1970).

In 1988, Milford was the first to receive the ACE Career Achievement Award , the award given by the American Cinema Editors' guild for life's work.
