action

Charles "Chick" Graham settled in Puerto Rico after the war to start a business with his old Army friend and brother-in-law Buster Cox. When Graham comes home that evening, his wife acts like he's a crazy stranger.

Albert "Bert" Rand, who looks exactly like him, has taken his place, drinks and is playing cards in the living room. Neither Cora nor Buster or Graham's dog recognize Graham and think that he is the doppelganger.

In the meantime, his picture appears on the front page of a newspaper because he is wanted in Miami as a bank robber who has stolen half a million dollars. When Graham flees the police, he tries to solve the mystery together with his old friend Mary Davis, whom he left to marry Cora. Mary's brother Walt Davis is cautious at first, but also tries to help him.

Rand tries to kill Graham by hiring an attack dog specialist to unleash a Doberman . The evil doppelganger had already hatched the plan with Cora and her brother Buster before Cora Graham married.

reception

Dennis Schwartz rated the film as mediocre: “The B-film has a good premise about false identity, but a lousy execution. Montagne has done it well enough as a pastime, but it's a shame it's never convincing. "

Remakes

Several remakes were produced in India in regional languages: 1988 Dilli Baabu in Tamil , 1992 Bol Radha Bol by David Dhawan in Hindi and 2017 Goutham Nanda in Telugu . All three films are unofficial remakes.
