Giovanni Achille Ferrio (born November 16, 1924 in Vicenza ; † October 21, 2013 ) was an Italian film composer , arranger and orchestra conductor .

Life

After dropping out of medicine and studying music , Ferrio first worked with singers like Teddy Reno and wrote songs and hits as well as for radio broadcasts until he became known as the composer of around 120 film scores from 1958. His style was characterized by the use of electric guitar , drums and light wind instruments . Frequently engaged in films with Giuliano Gemma , he was one of the top addresses for spaghetti westerns ; later he often worked for sexy comedies .

Ferrio also worked frequently for television. One of his last works was the score for Labyrinthus from 2008. He became known to a younger audience through his use of his composition in Kill Bill - Volume 1 .

Further works can be found on records by Johnny Dorelli , Anna Moffo and especially Mina , with whom he worked on almost all recordings. Several times he conducted the orchestra at the Sanremo Festival .
