content

Billy Bonney accidentally witnesses an attack on his mother and shoots the criminal. Since he now has to fear the blood revenge of the perpetrator's family, an old friend of his father's, Pat Garrett, advises him to leave the country. When he meets a brother of the criminal, Billy is forced to kill again in self-defense.

Billy's reputation as an indomitable marksman is slowly building up - against his will, he just wants to have his peace and quiet. In Tunstall he meets a fatherly friend whose daughter he falls in love with, but after the latter's murder, whom he is suspected of, he has to live as an outlaw. When the governor issues an amnesty for all bandits who voluntarily disarm and settle down, Billy confronts Garrett, who has now become sheriff, but is shot from the background.
