Luis Prendes

Luis Prendes Estrada (born August 22, 1913 in Melilla , † October 27, 1998 in Madrid ) was a Spanish actor .

Life

Prendes initially aspired to a military career in the merchant navy, but then began to appear in the acting troupe of his sister Mercedes Prendes with stage appearances. (A second sister, Mari Carmen , was also an actress.) Engagements with Carmen Díaz and Concha Catalá followed. After the end of the Spanish Civil War , he also began a career in cinema. After a period as the first performer at the Teatro María Guerrero , Prendes founded his own ensemble in 1946, with which he performed numerous classics such as The Visit of the Old Lady , All My Sons or Los árboles mueren de pie . Until his death he could be seen on stage again and again. Great successes were u. a. Cara de plata 1967 in Barcelona , La metamorfosis 1985 next to Maruchi Fresno and Neil Simons Broadway Bound 1996 in Madrid.

In his cinema roles he was usually seen as an elegant gentleman; His cinematic heyday came in the 1940s and 1950s, when he often worked with directors such as José María Forqué , Alejandro Ulloa and Ignacio F. Iquino for his roles as galan . He was later seen as a supporting actor in genre films. Prendes also found employment in the then relatively young medium of television.
