Sing me the song of revenge (original title: Mi chiamavano 'Requiescat'… ma avevano sbagliato ) is a 1973 spaghetti western shot by Mario Bianchi . Alberto Cardone, who is also experienced in this genre, worked on the script .

action

The northerner Mulligan (in the German version Madison) is ambushed in search of insurgent southern rebels. Only one man survives. When they ride back to their base, they discover that it has been attacked by other rebels, led by Mulligan's mortal enemy Machedo. The rebels murder all of the prisoners while Mulligan is brutally tortured and left with gunshot hands. Mulligan resigns from the army and goes as a black-clad avenger in search of his tormentors, who have committed other crimes in the meantime. Mulligan steals the criminals' booty from a bank robbery and lures them into a ghost town, where he kills one after the other from behind until only Machedo is left, whom he challenges to a duel. Although he can hardly use his hands as a result of the torture, he shoots Machedo with a weapon he designed and leaves the city.

criticism

  • "Boring series western who only makes himself noticeable through sadistic inserts."
  • Segnalazioni cinematografiche classifies the film as "boring, viscous and devoid of any originality, it restricts itself to sadisms on the part of the good and the bad".

Remarks

Sing mir das Lied der Rache was released in German cinemas on August 23, 1974. Due to its excessive brutality, it was the only spaghetti westerns ever published in Germany that did not have an FSK approval, but was presented to the SPIO , which issued “no youth approval ”. The film was released on video in the 1980s and has been broadcast several times by the private broadcaster Tele 5 since 2004 . An uncut version was released on DVD in 2005, but with the wrong FSK approval.

The film song That man is interpreted by Ann Collin .
