Johnny Dorelli

Johnny Dorelli (* 20th February 1937 in Meda , Lombardy as Giorgio Guidi ) is an Italian actor , television presenter and singer-songwriter of easy listening , jazz , swing and pop .

Life

Johnny Dorelli was born in Meda, not far from Milan , in 1937 to the tenor Nino D'Aurelio and his wife Teresa. He grew up in the United States . He studied double bass and piano at the High School of Music and Art in New York City . At this time he put on his pseudonym Johnny Dorelli.

He made his debut in 1951, from 1955 he was under contract with CGD . He took part in the Sanremo Festival nine times ( 1958 , 1959 , 1960 , 1962 , 1963 , 1967 , 1968 , 1969 and 2007 ); he reached the final eight times. In 1958 he won the music festival together with Domenico Modugno with the song Nel blu dipinto di blu , in 1959 also with Modugno with Piove (Ciao ciao bambina) . At the Sanremo Festival in 1990 he took over the moderation together with Gabriella Carlucci .

Dorelli appeared as an actor in The Funny Vagabonds in 1963 and in Bread and Chocolate in 1974 . In 1983 he played the lead role in Heaven and Hell . He also worked as a television presenter for RAI and Canale 5 .

Private

Dorelli was married to Catherine Spaak from 1972 to 1979, and they had one child. Son Gianluca Guidi , who also works as an actor, comes from a relationship with Lauretta Masiero . In 1991 Dorelli married the actress Gloria Guida . They met in 1981 while filming Hey, Ghosts! know. They have a daughter together.
