Onion Jack cleans up (original title: Cipolla Colt ) is a western comedy by Enzo G. Castellari from 1975.

action

The young Farmer Onion Jack plants the vegetables he is named after, likes to eat them and is good at handling his Colt . The nearby Paradise City is being bullied by the unscrupulous oil magnate Petrus Lamb. He forces the local farmers to sell their land to his company. One day when a farmer named Foster protests against the sale, Lamb's people kill him. What Lamb doesn't know, however, is that Foster previously sold the farm to Onion-Jack. When he arrives in Paradise City, he befriends the sons of the murdered Foster, Dutch and Cal, and the journalist Henry Pulitzer , with whose daughter he falls in love. Pulitzer writes about the murder of the farmers over and over again, but the newspaper is always stolen from people by Lamb's men who keep harassing Pulitzer. Shortly after he had the title deed for the Foster Farm stamped by the always drunk Judge Logan, the deed was stolen from him, but Dutch and Cal let him live with them anyway. He wants to report the theft to the sheriff and his homosexual deputies, but the judge who is also there claims not to know him. Jack is then followed by the three Lambs' helpers, who also killed Foster, and falls down a slope, but remains alive. Believing that he now only has to do with the two children, Lamb travels personally to Paradise City.

Onion-Jack learns from the orphans that when they found him, they found a little metal buffalo head on their father's head, which comes from the saddle of Stinky, one of the three murderers. Together with Jack, he tracks them down in another city and captures Stinky. On the way back, however, they are intercepted by Lamb and his entourage. Stinky is killed by his two accomplices with onion Jack's Colt, the sheriff, who is also on Lamb's side, arrests him and Pulitzer for murder. In the subsequent trial, in which the jury is made up of Lamb's people and the judge is once again drunk, they are sentenced to death. However, Dutch and Cal free her with a grenade disguised as an onion. When Onion-Jack and Pulitzer print Stinki's confession, they are attacked by the other two killers, but they are overwhelmed. They send the two men back without clothes and print the newspaper article on their underwear so that every citizen can read it. The sheriff wants to collect all the remaining copies of the newspaper that are currently being distributed by Dutch and Cal, so Onion-Jack faces him for a duel. He shoots the Colt out of his hand and also the belt, so that the pants fall down and the sheriff turns out to be a transvestite wearing suspenders . The rest of Lamb's people pounce on Onion-Jack, but the latter defeats them one after the other.

In the end, onion-Jack faces the oil magnate Lamb personally for the final duel in a hotel, in which his mechanical hand, which until then only served as a running gag due to numerous defects , turns out to be a weapon. Lamb can fire his fingers like bullets and extend his hand to hit Onion Jack from a distance. As the fight progresses, Lamb smashes one post after another until the building collapses above him. Judge Logan, who no longer wants to drink, declares all property claims of the oil company null and void and returns the lands to their rightful owners, the delighted citizens blow up the oil rigs. Lamb and his helper Adolf , who always repaired his mechanical hand in the course of the running gag, now have to work in Onion-Jack's fields until Lamb, to his delight and to Onion-Jack's horror, comes across oil. Onion Jack, who has to look for better soil for onion breeding, rides on with his talking horse Archibald and passes the sheriff, who is still in suspenders, who is waiting unsuccessfully for a lift.

Reviews

"Regardless of the temporary slipping into Klamauk, a largely accurate, enjoyable and fast-paced Western and progress parody with attacks against profit thinking and environmental pollution."

Onion Jack cleans up can't really entertain at any moment, and if Enzo G. Castellari's film serves anything at all, then it's an example of how the Italian film industry tried to copy successful film concepts in the 1970s and in the process failed horribly. "
