Guido & Maurizio De Angelis , also known as Oliver Onions , are the brothers Guido (born  December 22, 1944 in Rocca di Papa , Italy ) and Maurizio de Angelis (born  February 22, 1947 in Rome , Italy).

biography

The De Angelis brothers began their careers as guitarists; Maurizio then graduated in composition and harmony, while Guido trained on the flute. They toured Italy with the band Black Stones, later renamed G&M. They came into contact with the industry through their work in orchestras that also recorded film music.

They were best known as film music composers; they wrote over 170 film scores, including for numerous films with Bud Spencer and Terence Hill or the spaghetti western Keoma (1976) by Enzo G. Castellari . Often, especially for single releases of their theme songs, they used the name of the English writer Oliver Onions as a pseudonym . They also recorded under numerous other names, such as Dilly Dilly, The Black Stones, Canary Jones, Donald & Olimpio, Barqueros, Sunrise, Gulliver and Juniper.

Their most successful title was Santa Maria , in 1980 six weeks Germany number one of the singles chart ranked, with Gold Award and also in the German version of Roland Kaiser was very successful. They composed and produced the song cycle Ungeschminkt (1982) for Gitte Hænning .

In November 2007 they appeared live again for the first time in 25 years.

As part of the ARD program Schlagerboom , the De Angelis brothers and Roland Kaiser performed together in 2019 with the title Santa Maria in Italian and German.
