The big one with his extra-terrestrial little one (original title: Uno sceriffo extraterrestre… poco extra e molto terrestre ) is a comedy with science fiction elements, first performed in 1979 . Bud Spencer plays an American provincial sheriff who meets and takes care of a little alien named H7-25 ( Cary Guffey ). The H7-25 looks and acts like an earthly little boy, but has a universal tool called a photon cannon, which uses "biomagnetic energy" to manipulate objects and impart superhuman abilities. Soon the UFO task force is chasing him and the sheriff is busy getting him back to the spaceship and to safety. There, however, H7-25 is given permission to stay with the sheriff for a while. The locations include Newnan , Stone Mountain and the Six Flags Over Georgia amusement park . Director Michele Lupo's film received the Golden Screen in 1980 . It was continued in 1980 with Buddy haut den Lukas ( Chissà perché… capitano tutte a me ).

Note: Unless otherwise stated, the information in this section is based on the DVD released by ems new media in 2004 .
Newnan in the US state of Georgia is a quiet town. This changes when several residents claim to have sighted a UFO over the nearby lake and the military, led by Captain Briggs, cordoned off the area south of the lake. Accidents happen and devices and fixtures get out of control, which residents explain with the influence of UFOs. The Sheriff of Newnan is one of the few who thinks nothing of this rumor. He is looking for the runaway boy Peter in a nocturnal amusement park and finds him together with a second little boy who claims his name is H7-25 and comes from space. He only came to earth by mistake from his father's spaceship. Since this boy still does not give a credible name or place of residence, he takes him for the time being. Strange things are happening more and more often, because the little one can apparently use a kind of remote control (“photon cannon”) to set devices and devices in motion that let time run back and forth, talk to animals and walk through walls. With this tool he even frees the crook Brennan from the sheriff's custody several times . He does not fish with a rod , but the fish jump into his hand. With energy capsules, he helps the rheumatic deputy Allan to regain youthful strength and flexibility. Finally, the sheriff is convinced and speaks to a general of the air force so that the military can contact the spaceship and bring the boy to his father. However, H7-25 refuses to show his skills. The photon cannon, which is supposed to serve as evidence, suddenly appears as a toy.
The general doesn't believe anything, but Captain Briggs, who was already convinced of the presence of aliens, is now trying to get hold of the H7-25. The sheriff delivers the boy first, but when he sees that he is being badly treated, he takes control of the helicopters and crews with the photon cannon and frees him. This is what spurs Briggs on. He now wants - out of a personal power calculation - to get the photon cannon into his hand. During a second attempt at access by the Briggs-led UFO Sonderkommando, a violent fight develops in which a large part of the interior of a supermarket is broken. The sheriff gets unexpected help from the crook Brennan , who was also attacked and spontaneously participates in the brawl. H7-25 stays in the background and uses its cannon to influence the brawl in favor of its protectors. After this threat has been averted, the spaceship makes contact by driving the sheriff's official car on a wild ride to the Stone Mountain monolith , the place that has been designated as the future meeting point. On a third attempt, soon after, Briggs manages to stun the sheriff and kidnap the boy. Since the sheriff himself has extraordinary abilities due to the contact with the photon beam of the spaceship, he can rescue the boy from the air force base, where he is being interrogated in a dark shooting range . After the escape, there is a last big fight with the persecutors at a fire brigade festival. The incidentally present Brennan supports the sheriff again. The H7-25 not only intervenes with its photon cannon, with which it renders the soldiers' weapons unusable, but also distributes energy capsules. The rheumatic deputy sheriff Allan can also take part. Then the sheriff drives the boy to the agreed meeting point, but since he has grown to love him, it is difficult for him to say goodbye. Soon afterwards, H7-25 is back in the car and announces that it can stay with him with special permission. Quote: Only for five thousand light years , but that's enough.
Action details
When the sheriff tries to light a campfire in the forest, the matches don't burn. He tells the boy about a Laurel & Hardy film in which a thumb is used as a lighter. When he demonstrates the move, his thumb actually burns. H7-25 explains this with the “biomagnetic energy” of the spaceship. When the sheriff later breaks into an air force base, he uses this "thumb lighter" to burn a telltale list of names. He encounters a guard dog that he can talk to through "biomagnetic energy" and that leads him to H7-25.
Quotes
"Yes, I already know, now we have a total power failure - here too - dark as a black ass."
"Take care, growler, I'll show you something so you don't die stupid."
"I forbid that, my dog is more intelligent than me!"
background
The film is the second collaboration between director Michele Lupo and Bud Spencer after you called it Mücke . The original title Uno sceriffo extraterrestre ... poco extra e molto terrestre roughly means in German: An extraterrestrial sheriff - little extraterrestrial and very earthly . The screenplay was written by Marcello Fondato , who directed Zwei wie Pech und Schwefel and Charleston . The film was shot in the city of Newnan, there are also a number of other locations: the nightly amusement park in which the sheriff first encountered H7-25, as can be seen from the labeling of the fairground rides, the Six Flags Over Georgia near Atlanta . The horses carousel that is the boy at the beginning of acquaintance in motion is in the National Register of Historic Places listed Riverview Carousel . Briggs' first attempt to get hold of the boy was filmed at the Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium . In one shot, the dome of the Georgia State Capitol can be seen in the background on the right . The Air Force Bases shown are the Warner Robbins and Dobbins Air Force Bases. The meeting point with the alien spaceship is at the Stone Mountain monolith with a view of the huge relief on the north wall. The actor who played the little alien, Cary Guffey , already starred in Steven Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind . Bud Spencer notes in the first part of his autobiography that Spielberg followed the further development of the boy who was his discovery and had seen the film. The big one with his extra-terrestrial little one was the inspiration for Spielberg's later box office hit ET - The Extra-Terrestrial .

The sheriff's company car is a Ford LTD , model year 1978. In fact, the vehicle type was also offered as a police car at the time. At the end you see a bomber and two Mark IX Hawk space fighters from the Moon Base Alpha 1 episode Attack from Space . Branded products and logos are often placed very conspicuously. In addition to Coca-Cola (including fire station in the entrance sequence, supermarket), this applies above all to William Lawson’s whiskey brand: H7-25 brings its photon cannon into position behind bottles of this brand during the fight at the fire brigade festival. The effects used in the film are kept very simple, this can be seen most clearly in the comic-like brawls in which the H7-25 intervenes with its photon cannon. Different settings are repeated several times in direct succession. Hits, falls and the like are underlaid with strange sound effects.
The sheriff is not addressed by first or last name, but with the job title or a nickname (see also the section on quotations). As an intruder in the air force base, in order to confuse the guards, he introduces himself with different names and demonstratively points to a non-existent name tag on his uniform jacket. A name that is still used in publications is Craft , including on the cover of the DVD released by ems new media in 2004. In older releases on Super 8 and VHS , the character is called, like its actor, Spencer (marketing film).
The English title is The Sheriff and the Satellite Kid . Spencer mostly spoke his roles in the English versions himself, although he did not speak the language. He trained the correct pronunciation with the Italian-American dialogue trainer Raffaele (Ray) Mottola , who at the beginning can be seen in a small role as a reporter.

The whereabouts of the photon cannon
The German synchronization causes a contradiction to the continuation in the final dialogue: H7-25 answers the sheriff's question about the photon cannon (verbal horned radiation orthophoto ): I left it up, if I stay with you, I don't need it. This photon cannon is one of the reasons for the constant escape in Buddy Beats Luke , as its signals enable the military to locate the location.
