Hendrik Weyenbergh (born December 6, 1842 in Haarlem , † July 27, 1885 in Bloemendaal ) was a zoologist of Dutch origin who mainly worked in Argentina . He founded the Zoological Museum in Cordoba .
Weyenbergh came to Argentina in 1872 at the invitation of Hermann Burmeister . He taught at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba until he temporarily left the university due to major differences between himself and Burmeister. He was a founding member of the Sociedad Entomológica Argentina and President of the Academia Nacional de Ciencias .
In 1881 he returned to the Netherlands , where he died in 1885.
Although not an ichthyologist, Weyenbergh has re-described various freshwater fish from Argentina. However, most are now considered synonyms of other taxa, for example Synbranchus doeringii.
