As soon as he got there, he witnessed a fight between the car thief Darko and his cellmate Nino, who is imprisoned for murder. A little later Darko is lying dead in the shower room. The only witness, Vincenzo Torrisi, claims to have seen that Nino was the killer. But Carlo Vasari believes in Nino's innocence.

Vincenzo is on for good behavior parole dismissed. Vasari makes the acquaintance of his brother Aldo, a local mafioso. Vasari investigates and eventually learns that Nino has a sister named Maddalena. He lets her come to Crotone. He learns from her that she was Aldo's lover for three years. When she was pregnant, he asked her to abort her child , but she refused. After visiting their brother, Vasari and Maddalena are shot at by Vincenzo.

Vasari also speaks to an ex-police officer on whose testimony Nino was convicted. He learns that his testimony was wrong and that Nino is wrongly in jail. The policeman had been threatened and given false testimony out of fear.

With the help of a commissioner , a journalist and a taxi-driving law student, and with material that Cesco has collected, he takes action against the Torrisi brothers. He provokes Vincenzo until he makes a mistake and, despite warnings from Aldo, shoots Vasari again. He is no longer acceptable for the mafia and his brother shoots him. He is caught and arrested by the police. Nino, whose innocence has been proven, is set free.

criticism

"Now over 70, Spencer takes things a little easier, but gives the odd priest with a lot of heart and devotion, which makes the film a charming, winking star vehicle for the old master of beating orgies."

- Video Week

“Bud Spencer only occasionally falls back on his former badass image, but continues to rely on his recipe for success of laconic, humorous serenity and dramatic minimalism. The plot is solid, but suffers from some dramaturgical weaknesses, which are of course compensated for by the unshakable stoicism of the main actor. The quieter sounds of the film are destroyed by the clumsy synchronization. "
