Marcello Fondato

Marcello Fondato (born January 8, 1924 in Rome , † November 13, 2008 in San Felice Circeo ) was an Italian screenwriter and film director .

life and work

Fondato began writing for Luigi Comencini and Mario Bava in the late 1950s . Soon he became an assistant director to Aldo Molinari and others. He worked with many interesting directors in the 1950s and until the middle of the following decade on numerous entertainment films; these include the horror films The Three Faces of Fear and Bloody Silk and the Spaghetti Westerns The Four Vultures of the Sierra Nevada and Reckoning in Vera Cruz .

As a director, he was responsible for a number of comedies from 1968 after a film about gangsterism in Sardinia, including two like Pech und Schwefel (with Bud Spencer and Terence Hill ) and Charleston - Two fists clear up (also with Bud Spencer, for the he also scripted other projects). In 1985 he also made a one-time TV film.

Since 1990 Fondato lived in San Felice Circeo , where he founded and directed a "Teatro Stabile". A piece, Il Timido , was also created for the ensemble.
